How long work takes from the first commit, or from the ticket starting, until it is shipped. Teams usually split it into coding, pickup, review, and deploy time.

The useful part is the split. Coding, pickup, review, and deploy time tell you where work waits. The total, on its own, is a blunt number.
Which tools measure this
Tools tagged Flow & cycle time. A tag means the vendor's pages listed it. It does not mean every sub-metric is broken out.
